Australian wild abalone is one of the world’s most sought after seafood delicacies. Hand-harvested from the cool, unpolluted waters off Australia’s southern coastline, our abalone is extremely popular in Asia, where for a long time, it has been traditionally linked to several health benefits and been known as a delicacy of choice for royalty.
Our live abalone is harvested by expert licensed divers from the ocean and transported direct to our factory in Margate, Tasmania.
There they are selected by our highly trained staff, sorted for size whilst ensuring the best quality. They are packed into polyfoam boxes ready for export, typically 12 kgs net/box.
The location of our Margate factory is in close proximity to a major airport. This enables the product to be delivered promptly with minimal time out of the water allowing a fresher product for our customers.
Individually quick frozen
Our IQF Greenlip and Blacklip abalone are removed from the shell, cleaned and vacuum sealed in individual clear pouches then frozen.
The product is packed and sealed ready for export.
Vacuum packed (retort)
Our retort vacuum packed abalone is fully cooked and ready to eat straight from the pouch.
There is a small amount of liquid that is naturally made. The abalone is processed and put into a clear pouch which gives you the ability to view the product.
Our canned abalone is harvested and transported to the factory without delay. Tasmanian Seafoods Pty Ltd located in Smithton, Margate and Dandenong South have developed a well organised network to ensure freshness of our product.
We continually monitor these processes to meet strict quality control guidelines. By building quality into our process, we can consistently produce a premium product.
The abalone we receive for processing spans a large range of grades and sizes. In order to supply our customers with a consistent product, our specially trained personnel grade the abalone before canning
